The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 大概是因为去看电影之前看了各种片段，本想哭一场却没实现。运动员真是不容易，残障运动员更不容易，希望同工同酬！苏桦伟很辛苦，妈妈很辛苦，弟弟很心酸，一直活在哥哥的影子中。
中规中矩，但是可以拍得更好的，很多被压缩的情节其实真的值得好好讲讲。（或许是阿甘正传打头，已经在我心中有了一个固定印象了）

一开始的四人接力哪里最好。
输在起点不重要，重要得是知道终点在哪。四届金牌送给母亲当嫁妆，把哭的力气留在传送带后站起来的自己。如果能追上来，十三个月的酬劳可以没有后顾之忧，只是同工同酬在市场经济下显得多么可笑。
堂堂香港竟然派本片参加明年奥斯卡评选？这已经不是香港电影的落寞了而是同大路一样同流合污自暴自弃了吧…开片第一跑就成功…也没看出多努力就成了只能说明被上帝青睐和后天努力是两码事好吧…
励志故事外加亲情，剧情有点同质化。但效果还是很令人动容，表演、节奏、台词都很好，只是配乐有点满。
演苏的几位演员都很棒 嘲笑大陆的同类型影片
前半段只能说工整，后半段好些了，把亲情的冲突、成绩与收入的冲突这些真实的矛盾呈现了，比较可贵。
有一个残疾小孩的家庭是多么可怕，父母倾尽所有，小孩各种痛苦，还得忍受社会的异样目光，陪伴已经是奢侈，更何况培养呢。
有点可惜，要荣誉还是要金钱这一part拍得最棒，月亮与六便士你选哪一样？奥运冠军为了一个月7000元在送快递，奥运冠军的妈妈为了生活在洗厕所，这点要是深挖一点，未必不能引起社会的共鸣和关注，但可惜最后还是拍成了一般向的励志个人传记电影，第一次获冠后面对记者喊的“同工同酬”也成了只是一句轻飘飘的口号。

拍的非常碎片，人物单薄而节奏缓慢，情绪的积累和爆发也做的不好
生命的神奇之处就在于没有任何一个医生可以宣判它的死刑。
最近自己不小心弄到脚指骨骨折了要上石膏一个月，已经觉得超级无敌麻烦而且也会发脾气生闷气！因为很多事情要麻烦别人想自己来吧事情反而更糟糕！所以这个时候看到这个电影更加明白伤残人士的痛苦😭而且苏妈是真的全奉献给儿子！演员们的演技都非常好
演员很伟大，原型苏桦伟更是了不起，影片让我从头哭到尾，可它算不上是传记片。
不知道为什么，吴君如在港澳女星里不算拔尖，我看过的作品也少，却莫名有种好感。
於是，初審能把此片送入5強，有一半，是衝著母慈子孝，另外一半，是跟這代人，即年輕人，站在一起。
说回电影，前面剧情转折过于简单，好在各主角演技在线，剧情现实：弟弟哭诉妈妈对哥哥的偏心，妈妈哭诉拥有残疾儿子的艰辛，哥哥哭诉希望被当成普通人看待的真心。
